Burnley and Millwall clash this Saturday at the Turf Moor in Match Day 46 of the EFL Championship. The match will be broadcast live at 12:30 on Sky Sports +.
Burnley have 97 points to their name this season and have a shot at the title going into the last game of the campaign. Currently second on goal difference to Leeds, Scott Parker's team won 0-5 against QPR last time out.
Millwall, meanwhile, have 66 points and lie in 7th position. Last time out, Alex Neil's team triumphed 1-0 against Swansea to strengthen their chances of crashing into the play-offs on the final day.
The last meeting between the two teams ended in a 1-0 Millwall win.
Joe Redmond (TurfCast Podcast): Burnley could be the first team in history to win the Championship three times in a row if they beat Millwall at Turf Moor.
However, they will need a favour off all-but relegated Plymouth Argyle against Leeds United which seems unlikely.
All Burnley can do is their job and hope for a favour.
Millwall on the other hand can make the playoffs if they become the first team to win at Turf Moor this season.
I think that means Millwall will take the game to Burnley, and that should play into Burnley’s hands if they’re on their game.
Prediction: 2-0
Omer Ronayne (That Millwall Podcast): It all comes down to this.
One last roll of the dice, away at the already promoted Burnley a Turf Moor. The table’s a minefield, and the margins are razor-thin - but if we win and a couple of results swing our way, we could somehow, somehow, sneak into the play-offs.
I’m not getting carried away though. Burnley have been exceptional — 45 games, just 2 defeats, and only 15 goals conceded all season. That’s ridiculous at any level. They’ve cruised through the campaign with a relentless consistency and deserve all the plaudits coming their way.
But… and there is a but… we beat them earlier in the season at The Den. A proper Millwall performance that night. If you’re looking for an omen, that’s the one perhaps? It's the hope that kills you however I'm just excited to be going into the last game of the season with an opportunity to do something special.
Four wins from five and confidence ever building, we’ve found that grit again - that identity - and whatever happens Saturday, at least we’re going there believing.
It’s going to be backs against the wall. It’ll take every ounce of fight, concentration, and a bit of luck ultimately. Burnley won’t make it easy - but they’re already up, and perhaps with another eye on how Leeds get on, they could perhaps do us a favour.
The dream’s still alive. Just. And I'm going to dream and let my heart rule my head here because why not?!
