Had little to do but what he did was excellent. The Portuguese goalkeeper guessed right to save Jamie Vardy’s effort from the penalty spot, denying the outgoing Leicester legend his 199th goal for the Foxes. Sa will feel justice was done, after Vardy initiated the contact with the goalkeeper to earn the spot-kick.
An impressive response to last weekend’s struggles. Trippier’s tantalising cross was hung up for Dan Burn to power home Newcastle’s second against Ipswich, before a set-piece was met by William Osula to head in the third. Two assists and a clean sheet for Trippier in a good afternoon’s work at St James’ Park.
A superb showing from Chalobah to continue Chelsea’s push for Champions League qualification.
Chalobah’s aggressive front-footed defending won possession for the winning goal, as the centre-back snapped into Beto to regain the ball for Chelsea. He had earlier denied Beto a fine chance with an important defensive header. Arguably Chelsea’s best centre-back, their decision to send him on loan last summer was rightly reversed.
Baleba filled in as an auxiliary centre-back in the absence of the injured Jan Paul van Hecke and performed admirably in the deeper role. He made six clearances and won four tackles, before venturing forward to score a spectacular stoppage-time winner against West Ham. The 21-year-old appears the next gold mine that Brighton are sitting upon.
Ryan Sessegnon is enjoying his football back at Fulham. The 24-year-old has broken into the team in recent weeks and is beginning to celebrate his Craven Cottage homecoming. Sessegnon made it four goals and two assists in eight league games after stooping to head home an excellent 94th-minute winner at Southampton. The return to a left-back role did not diminish his attacking threat, which was combined with seven tackles and 10 ground duels won.
The standout as the champions were coronated at Anfield. Mac Allister has been magnificent for Liverpool this season and ran the show against Spurs. Composed in possession, combative without it, and probing in his passing, the Argentine was the hub of a title-clinching 5-1 win over Spurs. His fifth goal of the Premier League campaign was thundered home for Liverpool’s second.
The Newcastle midfielder is in real form right now. Tonali produced another performance of lung-busting work and quality in possession, as the Magpies eased past Ipswich. He read the game well to snuff out danger and made seven key passes – more than double that of any other player on the pitch.
If these are to be Matheus Cunha’s final games in a Wolves shirt, the Old Gold should enjoy him while they can. Cunha was the architect of the club’s 3-0 win over Leicester as Wolves recorded a sixth straight Premier League victory.
He turned in from Rayan Ait-Nouri’s cross for the opener, before dissecting the Foxes’ defence with a pass for Jorgen Strand Larsen to double the lead. He was the provider again for Wolves’ third, to make it 21 goals and assists in 26 league starts this season.
Not for the first time this season, the silver lining in a West Ham defeat. Bowen’s brilliant run set up Mohammed Kudus to score West Ham’s equaliser at Brighton, before an inch-perfect cross was met by Tomas Soucek to put the Hammers ahead. West Ham failed to hold on as Brighton launched a late fightback with Bowen’s quality not matched by those around him. It’s been a familiar story this season.
Rayan Ait-Nouri enjoyed the freedom of the left flank for Wolves against Leicester. The wing-back threatened all afternoon against a Foxes side resigned to the Championship. Ait-Nouri set up the opener for Matheus Cunha with a surging run forward and was full of tricks and flicks at Molineux. It’s now 11 goal contributions for the campaign for the 23-year-old.
Jorgen Strand Larsen has been the focal point that Wolves have lacked since pre-injury Raul Jimenez.
The summer signing from Celta Vigo notched his 13th league goal of the campaign with a well-taken second against Leicester. It was the highlight of another encouraging all-round performance from Strand Larsen, who occupied the Leicester backline impressively.
