The Premier League is nearing its end for another season, but it’s still providing lots of goals, drama and comebacks – and the title race is going to the final day.

We’ve picked out the best team of the week for matchday 37 in a 4-3-3 formation – which we’re sure no one will quibble with at all.

Premier League team of the week for matchday 37:

GK: Wes Foderingham – Sheffield United

It’s the unfortunate but inevitable fate of goalkeepers at clubs mired in a relegation battle to face a seemingly unending amount of shots across a season.

Sheffield United‘s Wes Foderingham has seen 195 shots on target come his way this term, the second-most of any goalkeeper in the Premier League in 2023/24. He has managed to stop 125 of them, six of which were made against Everton at the weekend.

It was not enough to stop the Toffees from coming away with the win, but if not for the 33-year-old the Blades would have suffered another hammering.

RB: Pedro Porro – Spurs

We have not seen the kind of attacking intent that defined Pedro Porro’s fine form earlier this season, but it returned on Saturday as Tottenham Hotspur ensured Burnley returned to the Championship with a 2-1 turnover.

The Spaniard took four shots and created one chance against the Clarets, coming away with a stunning finish for his first goal in five games. That also happened to be the previous time Spurs won a game before losing four on the trot – coincidence?

CB: William Saliba – Arsenal

There wasn’t much to write home about in the slogfest that was Arsenal‘s narrow win over Manchester United at Old Trafford on Sunday. Mikel Arteta’s side are clearly crawling to the finish line after a long and hard season.

The Gunners did defend stoutly yet again, keeping their 11th clean sheet on the road this season. William Saliba held it all together at the back yet again, making six clearances and winning all seven of his duels, earning him Player of the Match.

CB: Micky van de Ven – Spurs

It seemed like Tottenham’s winless run might continue after they gifted Burnley a relatively soft goal in the first half of Saturday’s encounter. The Claret’s were, after all, fighting for their very Premier League survival, while Spurs have wilted in recent weeks.

The north London outfit, to their credit, responded appropriately, and picked up a first victory in over a month thanks to a gorgeous finish from Micky van de Ven. The Dutchman had a very good game all round

LB: Josko Gvardiol – Man City

There’s an argument to be had that Josko Gvardiol shouldn’t be in contention for a full-back slot in our Team of the Week, given he seems to be forever in the opposition box, but we’ll settle that debate another day.

For now we’ll appreciate another incredible display from the Croatian defender, who scored a brace against Fulham to power Manchester City towards another Premier League title. The first was a very tidy finish early on, before showing smart movement and desire to poke home his second at the back post.

The 22-year-old waited until matchday 33 for his first goal or assist of the season, but he’s had five goal involvements since then. Coming in clutch at the right time of the year.

Gvardiol opens up on decision to turn down hat-trick chance

CM: Bernardo Silva – Man City

A stellar outing from Bernardo Silva at Craven Cottage saw him come away with two assists, one of which was one of the most unusual we’ve seen in a while.

The Portuguese midfielder was tackled on the edge of the box by his compatriot Joao Palhinha, but the ball bounced off his back as he fell down and into the grateful feet of Phil Foden for Man City’s second of the day.

It was entirely accidental, but his driving run created the opportunity in the first place. He followed that up with a lovely cross to the back post for Gvardiol’s second goal, while his all-round play was excellent.

CM: Morgan Gibbs-White – Nottingham Forest

Cole Palmer has been banging extremely loudly on the door for a spot in England’s Euro 2024 squad, but he was outplayed by one of his compatriots on Saturday.

Morgan Gibbs-White set up both of Nottingham Forest‘s goals as they succumbed to a 3-2 defeat to the Blues at the City Ground, reminding Gareth Southgate that he shouldn’t be too far from the manager’s thoughts ahead of this summer.

The 24-year-old, who also hit the woodwork with a header, is now on double digits for assists, and has set up more goals this season than the likes of

CM: Kevin De Bruyne – Man City

Fun fact: despite being arguably the best Premier League player of his generation, Kevin De Bruyne has never won the Player of the Month award. His brilliance is taken as a given at this stage, a banality that nonetheless continues to dazzle into his thirties.

Man City came up against a Fulham side that were not playing as if they were on the beach, at least not in the first half. But the Belgian maestro played a key role in breaking the host’s spirit on Saturday.

De Bruyne created seven chances in the game – more than any other player this weekend – three of which were deemed big chances, but somehow only came away with one assist. He’s now joint-second in the all-time list of assist makers in Premier League history.

RW: Michael Olise – Crystal Palace

The late season Renaissance continues apace at Selhurst Park, as does the eyecatching form of Michael Olise.

The 22-year-old winger has been a real difference maker for Crystal Palace when available, as he proved on Saturday, providing a goal and assist in their 3-1 win over Wolves.

Oliver Glasner has the Eagles playing some scintillating stuff at the moment, but the finish from Olise is the cherry on top. You’d swear he missed by a mile judging by his reaction, though.

LW: Eberechi Eze – Crystal Palace

Olise isn’t the only winger at Palace making an impact on the pitch, of course. Eberechi Eze has formed a very fruitful and fluid combination with his young teammate this season and they have no intent on slowing down as we approach the final week of the campaign.

The former QPR star netted his ninth goal in the Premier League this term with a cool finish following a pitch perfect assist from his wingman.

Wolves found it difficult to suppress the 25-year-old, who took three shots and created two chances, one of which was a big chance. He also chipped in on the defensive side of the ball, winning both of his tackles and making seven recoveries.

CF: Nicolas Jackson – Chelsea

It wasn’t a stellar week for centre-forwards, but Nicolas Jackson continues to put his spotty start to life at Chelsea behind him with another good performance.

The Senegalese international found the net for his 14th Premier League goal of the season and his fourth in three games as the Blues came from behind to beat Nottingham Forest 3-2.

It could have been an all-Palace front three this week after Jean-Philippe Mateta found the net against Wolves, but the French striker’s 69th-minute substitution denied him the chance to add to his tally.
