Jhon Durán (Aston Villa)

It had to be a big impact to scoop this honour when you played only 20 minutes and touched the ball just seven times.

But that is all Aston Villa's mercurial youngster needed as his late supersub cameo salvaged what could be a priceless point for his side in their pursuit of Champions League football.

His appearances off the bench haven't always convinced, notably against Olympiacos most recently, and there is no doubt that he is a polarising figure - even in his own dressing room!

"He's a bit nuts at times. Sometimes he's even a nightmare to have in your team but he has moments of real quality," his captain John McGinn told Sky Sports afterwards.

But when the tiring Villans needed an injection of inspiration on Monday night at home to Liverpool as they aimed to turn around a late 3-1 deficit, the 20-year-old delivered in his own unique way.

He firstly pounced on an Alexis Mac Allister error ton the edge of the Liverpool box and fizzed a fine low finish into the corner to reduce the deficit.

There was a touch more fortune about his second goal, with the striker appearing to know little about it as the ball ricocheted off his thigh as he attempted to make himself available for a pass and looped past Alisson to rescue a share of the spoils.

The Durán double, or Durán Durán if you will, sparked endless puns relating to the ageing rockers, although McGinn was quick to point out that those would be wasted on the South American starlet who may frustrate even his team-mates - but only because they are aware of his abilities.

"Jhon doesn't have a clue that he's in the city of Birmingham, never mind knowing who Duran Duran are!" the Scotland international laughed.

"He's such a raw player. Some days you think what a good boy, others you think 'c'mon big man, have a bit more respect'.

"But he does have everything to become one of the top strikers in the world and hopefully here he can do that."

When Unai Emery was asked if he concurs with his captain's comments, he was eager to preach a little more caution regarding the Colombian.

"He's a special player. He's very young and his potential is impossible to calculate," the former Villarreal boss stated. "When he's not being demanding, I'm being demanding of him. He will score goals, we just need to look after him."

His goals on Monday night saw him become the first player since Leroy Sané in 2017 to net twice against Liverpool as a substitute.

Crucially, they have put Villa within touching distance of a dream return to European football's top tier club competition.

Save a prayer for the continent's top defences when Durán is unleashed on them next season.
