Roma welcome last season’s Coppa Italia champions Bologna to the Stadio Olimpico for their Serie A opener.

Roma are raring to start the new season after experiencing a major rejuvenation last term despite the frustrating tenures of managers Daniele De Rossi and Ivan Juric. Claudio Ranieri led the club to a fifth-placed finish, as they missed Champions League football by just a point. Former Atalanta head coach Gian Piero Gasperini has now been handed the job to lead Roma this campaign and they will hope to land a piece of silverware after spending a busy summer transfer window. Newcomers Daniele Ghilardi, Wesley and Neil El Aynaoui are available for selection. Paulo Dybala returned from his injury and is expected to start.

Meanwhile, Bologna return to Serie A action following their Coppa Italia triumph in May. The trophy proved to be a glorious affair for the mid-table Emilian club, whose fans do not have the luxury of expecting silverware every year. The Rossoblu have won their last two league matches against Roma at Stadio Olimpico, and it is a huge chance for them tonight to make it three in a row. Bologna’s last season’s league performances slumped despite their Coppa Italia success, and Vincenzo Italiano will aim not to compromise much on the Serie A for cup competitions in this one.

Here are the predicted line-ups for the contest according to Sky Italia:

Roma (3-4-1-2): Svilar; Ghilardi, Mancini, Ndicka; Wesley, Koné, Cristante, Angelino; El Aynaoui; Soulé, Ferguson.

Bologna (4-2-3-1): Skorupski; De Silvestri, Vitík, Lucumí, Lykogiannis; Pobega, Freuler; Orsolini, Odgaard, Cambiaghi; Immobile.
