Piotr Zielinski starts tonight’s handsomely-looking Serie A showdown between Inter Milan and Bologna at the San Siro.
Zielinski talked to InterTV in the build-up via FCInterNews, confirming Inter’s ambition to maintain their winning streak.
Simone Inzaghi couldn’t call upon the services of Hakan Calhanoglu and Henrikh Mkhitaryan for tonight’s clash.
Therefore, Kristjan Asllani and Zielinski have a rare chance to start.
The Poland international has only made three league starts for Inter this season.
However, it’s worth noting that he had a rough start.
Indeed, recurring injury problems had curtailed his momentum at the beginning of the season.
Despite a relatively sparse playing time, he has amassed two goals and one assist.
Furthermore, Mkhitaryan’s absence finally saw Zielinski feature for the whole 90 minutes in last weekend’s win at Venezia.
With four points separating Inter from table-topping Napoli, victory is imperative for the reigning champions.
Despite boasting two games in hand, Inzaghi’s men cannot afford a mistake on home turf.
Sunday’s narrow 1-0 triumph extended their winning league run to six matches, with Zielinski hoping to make it seven in a row.
“I think it will be an exciting match to watch, as both teams are very strong,” the 30-year-old said.
“We hope to win since we’re playing at home, and these three points are very important to us.
“Defensive organization is always crucial it has to start with the attack, as we always do, and extend all the way to the backline.
“We’ll need to stay focused and give Bologna, who are a great team, very few opportunities.”
Zielinski also took stock of the upcoming midfield battle.
“It will be a match where the midfielders will need to provide significant support, as they have players strong in one-on-one situations.
“It will be an intense game, and we’ll have to work hard, but I hope this hard work will bring us the three points.”
