Piotr Zielinski has fully announced himself as a starter for Inter Milan with his outstanding performance against RB Leipzig in the Champions League.
This is the view in today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, via FCInterNews.
Zielinski joined Inter from Napoli over the summer. And when the 30-year-old arrived, he did so with a reputation as one of the top midfielders in Serie A.
Therefore, it was clear that Inter were not just signing Zielinski as a backup option.
Sooner or later, the expectation was that the Polish international would start establishing himself in the Inter starting eleven.
Zielinski has had plenty of chances already this season.
Inter have had a lot of competitions to play in. So the Pole has played both in the starting eleven and as a substitute in several big matches.
Zielinski started against the likes of Manchester City and Arsenal in the Champions League.
Considering the scale of those matches, the former Napoli man’s displays were very impressive.
But against RB Leipzig on Tuesday, Zielinski was simply the best player on the pitch.
The Leipzig players could never get near the 30-year-old. His technical ability and passing range, as well as energy, were at the heart of Inter’s possession.
Therefore, Zielinski has made it clear that he is truly ready to rival Henrikh Mkhitaryan for a starting spot.
