The Pilgrims have been busy in the transfer market so far, completing the signings of Jamie Paterson, Caleb Watts, and Jack MacKenzie on free transfers.

Football League World also exclusively revealed on Sunday morning that the Devon-based club are in advanced talks to sign Hertha Berlin midfielder Bradley Ibrahim, who spent last season on loan at Crawley Town in League One.

Ibrahim isn't the only midfielder that is close to joining the Pilgrims though, with Alan Nixon revealing on his Patreon page that Plymouth are working on a deal to sign 31-year-old midfielder Fulton from Championship outfit Swansea.

Nixon reported that the Welsh side are leading the race to sign Ethan Erhahon from Lincoln City, and could allow the experienced midfielder to join Argyle if they secure their midfield target.

It's been a crazy summer at Home Park, and we're not even a month in yet. Three new players have arrived at the club already, and the search for a new head coach has begun after Miron Muslic's move to FC Schalke 04.

Despite the setback of losing their head coach, Plymouth aren't allowing this to affect their recruitment, as they prepare to gear up for an instant return to the Championship, with Fulton now on their radar.

The 31-year-old played 31 Championship games for the Welsh outfit last season, and has racked up a total of 290 appearances for the club over an 11-year stint at the Swansea.com Stadium.

Fulton's deal expires next summer, and it looks like game time could be hard to come by, as Swansea are reportedly leading the race to sign Lincoln midfielder Erhahon in a £1m deal with add-ons.

The journalist concluded that if Alan Sheehan's side are successful in their pursuit of the Imps star, they could allow Fulton to depart the club to join Plymouth.

Now at 31, the Bolton-born midfielder is approaching the twilight of his career, and could find minutes hard to come by at Swansea as they look to bring in new faces this summer.

However, the levels of experience that Fulton bolsters would make him a real coup for any lower Championship or League One club.

Whilst it might not be the most exciting signing in the world on paper, he could work wonders for Plymouth and be a key figure in the engine room next season.

The Pilgrims need to find a strong blend of experienced players and hungry young prospects to try and replicate what they did when they were last in League One, and Fulton would be a really strong addition to the group.

With the likes of younger midfielders such as Malachi Boateng and Adam Randell on the books already, the 31-year-old would be an excellent example to help further develop the club's younger midfielders.

Fulton also has plenty to offer on the pitch still, having mustered over a decade of Premier League and Championship experience at Swansea. This would make him a very smart signing for the League One promotion hopefuls.
