Gabriel Jesus admitted playing for Arsenal is ‘NOT easy’ after the striker notched his sixth goal in his last four games in the victory at Brentford.

A quick, second-half double from Mikel Merino and Gabriel Martinelli added to Jesus’ first-half equaliser as Arsenal impressively came from behind to keep tabs on runaway leaders Liverpool.

The victory moves Arsenal to within six points of the lead and Jesus’ timely return to form is a welcome sight for Mikel Arteta.

“It’s not easy to play for a big club like Arsenal. I was playing good but wasn’t scoring,” Jesus explained.

“I kept working. Everyone at the club can tell you how hard I work every day. I didn’t give up and I always try. I’m very happy and I want to keep scoring to help the team.

“The team did great today. To come here and to play the way we played is amazing. Not just because of the result but the most important thing is the three points.

“To come back here against a tough opponent is always difficult and we did it.”

Jesus, who won the Premier League title four times at Manchester City, believes Arsenal have what it takes to reel in Liverpool and win a first championship in over 20 years.

“The previous two years were amazing, obviously we didn’t win the league but we were there fighting,” he added.

“To play in this competition is already hard but imagine fighting for the title? I’ve been there but I can see that this team is experienced now.

“We have a lot of amazing players and I’m sure we can go there and fight for the title but it’s still early. We need to keep trying to play well and keep winning games, that’s it.”
