A Mike Maignan howler was costly for Milan, but the Rossoneri didn’t react after Feyenoord’s early opener, losing 1-0 away in the first leg of the Champions League knockout playoff.

Milan

Maignan 4 – Paved the way for Feyenoord’s win with a blatant error. A terrible way to start the game and this crucial playoff tie.

Walker 5.5 – Even an experienced player like the Englishman struggled on this tough night for the Rossoneri. Piaxao stole the ball from him in the second half, starting a dangerous counter-attack.

Thiaw 6 – Beat Tomori to get a starting spot, won a couple of duels, but received a yellow card that convinced Conceiçao to replace him. (60′ Tomori 6).

Pavlovic 6.5 – Dealing with Feyenoord strikers wasn’t easy, especially in the first half, but he won almost all duels and tried to contribute to the build-up as well.

Theo Hernandez 5 – Not enough forward runs, just two crosses inside the box. The French star was nowhere near his standards.

Fofana 5.5 – He had an arduous task in a super-attacking Milan line-up but won less than 50% of duels in central midfield.

Reijnders 6 – With four attacking players starting, Reijnders was forced to play deeper in central midfield. Excellent passing accuracy and made two rare shots on target for the Rossoneri.

Pulisic 5 – Just 36 touches in one hour of play, no accurate crosses. One of his worst nights with the Rossoneri (60′ Chukwueze 5.5).

Joao Felix 5.5 – Conceiçao yelled at him in the opening minutes as he wanted more personality from the Chelsea loanee. Feyenoord closed down all the spaces in attack, and Felix gave his best in the final minutes when he moved to the left wing.

Leao 5 – Constantly and instantly booed by Feyenoord fans as soon as he received the ball. Promising sprints down the left flank but lacked the final pass. No key passes and passing accuracy just above 70% (73%, via Sofascore). Milan need more from their best player. (82′ Abraham N/A)

Gimenez 5 – Reunited with his ex-teammates and fans and received. The Mexican received a better reception than Leao, but didn’t do much more. The whole stadium sang his name when he was subbed off. Solid bond. (82′ Camarda N/A).

Coach: Conceiçao 5 – A depressing performance from the Rossoneri. Conceiçao picked the ‘fab four’ in attack, but the problem was once again the approach. There was no reaction after Feyenoord’s early opener, and the Rossoneri didn’t create much until the final 15 minutes.

Feyenoord: Wellenreuther 6; Read 6.5 (79′ Mitchell N/A), Beelen 7, Hancko 7, Smal 7 (70 Bueno 6); Moder 7, Milambo 6, Q Timber 6.5 (79′ Osman N/A); Hadj Moussa 6.5, Ueda 6 (46′ Carranza 6), Paixao 7.5 (85′ Ivanusec N/A). Coach: Priske 7
