During the FIFA Club World Cup Ederson stated his intent to remain at Manchester City for the 25/26 season. The Brazilian international told Sky Sports that his future was as a member of Pep Guardiola’s squad. But despite Ederson’s declaration speculation continues to swirl surrounding Ederson’s future at Manchester City. Perhaps the situation surrounding City’s number-one keeper isn’t as solid as it seems.
Turkish journalist Yagiz Sabuncoglu has reported that Galatasaray have an interest in signing Ederson this summer. Furthermore, Sabuncoglu reports that Galatasaray have submitted an enquiry to Manchester City about signing Ederson. Sabuncoglu adds that Manchester City’s number-one goalkeeper is reportedly open to a move to Turkey if his salary demands are met.
Fabrizio Romano has reported that Napoli are in the market for a new number-one keeper during the summer transfer window. Furthermore, Romano reports that the Serie A champions began talks with Manchester City over a deal to sign Ederson last week. But the move wasn’t feasible for Napoli, so they have subsequently moved on to other transfer targets as per Fabrizio Romano’s report.
The new reports from Yagiz Sabuncoglu and Fabrizio Romano do suggest that clubs do retain hope in signing Ederson from Manchester City this summer. During the FIFA Club World Cup, Ederson’s declaration about his future seemingly put the issue to bed. But you do sense that there is no smoke without fire in regards to clubs retaining hope in signing Ederson from City. Whether or not Ederson’s declaration rings true at the close of the transfer window remains to be seen. Yagiz Sabuncoglu’s report indicates that Ederson would be open to a move to Galatasaray.
Perhaps Ederson’s future remains in doubt. That won’t become clear until more of the transfer window passes. Given Galatasaray’s reported interest in signing the Brazilian and Napoli’s efforts to sign him it wouldn’t come as a major surprise if Ederson did leave Manchester City this summer.
