Daniel Peretz and Hiroki Ito were the last of the Bayern players on duty with their national teams on Tuesday and brought the international break to a close from FCB's point of view. While Israel, including goalkeeper Peretz were defeated by Norway, Japan, featuring Hiroki Ito in the defence helped keep a clean sheet against Saudi Arabia.
After becoming the first Asian team to qualify for the 2026 World Cup in the USA, Canada and Mexico with a 2-0 win over Bahrain, Japan followed up with another qualifying match in Saitama on Tuesday. Bayern defender Hiroki Ito played the full 90 minutes and helped keep a clean sheet in the Samurai Blue‘s 0-0 draw with Saudi Arabia. Head coach Hajime Moriyasu's side will wrap up their World Cup qualifying campaign with games against Australia and Indonesia at the end of June.

Following an opening win in European World Cup qualifying Group 1 against Estonia (2-1), Bayern keeper Daniel Peretz and the Israeli national team were beaten 4-2 in their crunch match against Norway on Tuesday. After going behind to a David Möller Wolfe strike in the 39th minute, Israel were able to equalise in the second half against the dominant Scandinavians through Mohammed Abu Fani (55).
Peretz then made a brilliant double save from Norway's star strikers Erling Haaland and Alexander Sörloth (58'), before the latter scored a minute later to make it 2-1. Kristoffer Ajer (65') and Haaland (83') then added two more for Staale Solbakken's side, before Israel's Dor Turgeman made it 4-2 in stoppage time. Peretz and Israel will continue their qualifying campaign on 6 June in Estonia.
