Manchester City head coach Pep Guardiola has on Wednesday revealed his admiration for an up-and-coming member of the midfield ranks at La Liga giants Barcelona.

As much, of course, comes after Barca and City locked horns in the early hours of this morning.

Upon the full-time whistle bringing a close to proceedings in the highly-anticipated friendly clash, the spoils were shared, by way of a 2-2 stalemate.

On target for Barcelona, meanwhile, were two highly-regarded young players, in the form of Pau Víctor, and Pablo Torre.

Speaking to the media on the back of the full-time whistle in Orlando, it therefore came as little surprise when the subject of the latest crop of breakthrough talent at his former club was put to the aforementioned Pep Guardiola.

And, interestingly, in his response, the Spaniard highlighted one name as having seemingly impressed him more than any other.

The player in question? Marc Bernal:

“I really liked the youngsters. Marc Bernal seemed extraordinary to me, how he controls, how he plays. But they all played incredibly, they do things very well, they know when to run, when to press, when to anticipate. I wish them all the best.”

Guardiola continued:

“They are going to have a very good season. They have young players with a lot of talent. They are extraordinary. It is incredible how talented they are and what they do on the pitch, how easy they do it for their age. It is not a surprise to me because I know perfectly well how well they work with the youth team at that club.”
