Pedri is one of multiple Barcelona stars struggling with an injury right now, with the midfielder currently unavailable and only expected to be back after the Super Cup in Saudi Arabia.

As the youngster looks to recover quickly, he took the time out to discuss various topics in an interview with Twitch streamer Ibai Llanos.

Pedri notably talked about Lionel Messi, Sergio Busquets and his current teammates at Barça, among other things.

But in that very same conversation, Pedri also opened up on his rival players or clubs, notably praising Girona. “Girona are playing very well and no one expected this. In my opinion, they can win La Liga. Everyone says they can’t but they keep winning,” he said.

Pedri was also asked about the Argentine Clasico, with the player favouring Boca Juniors. “Boca Juniors or River Plate? I’ve only seen 1 Argentinian Clasico in my life, and Boca won. So I’m a Boca fan,” he said.

Moving on, the Barcelona midfielder revealed the most disappointing moment of his career, adding, “The defeat that hurt me the most was on penalties against Italy in the EURO semi-finals. I was sure we would win that tournament.”

The Spanish international, though, backed himself to win the UCL and the FIFA World Cup during his career. “I see winning the Champions League and the World Cup as viable in my career,” he said.

Pedri on Neymar, Luis Enrique and Trincao

The Barcelona starlet also offered his thoughts on certain individuals, including Neymar while providing an interesting insight on Luis Enrique.

“Looks good, I don’t think it’s a cheap ticket,” he said about the Brazilian’s cruise. Pedri also admired Neymar’s hairstyles, adding, “Every hairstyle Neymar gets looks good on him. Dreadlocks, if he shaves, if he paints his hair. Everything looks good on him.”

Talking about former Barcelona manager Enrique, Pedri said, “Luis Enrique doesn’t have WhatsApp, if you want to talk to him you have to talk to him by SMS.”

Formerly of the Las Palmas youth academy, Pedri was also revealed that Trincao was his first friend at Barcelona. “My first friend at Barça was Trincao,” the midfielder said.

Pedri on Mbappe & Haaland

As Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo slowly make their way out of the podium, the footballing debate is likely to shift to Erling Haaland and Kylian Mbappe.

Pedri talked about both superstars, even addressing speculation linking Mbappe to a move to rivals Real Madrid next summer.

“Mbappé to Real Madrid? I don’t know. There was a moment when I thought he was going to sign for Real Madrid, but I don’t know anymore,” Pedri said.

If the Barcelona midfielder had to choose between Haaland or Mbappe, though, he would prefer the former.

“A player I would like to sign for Barça? Haaland,” he said. “I would like Haaland as Lewandowski’s replacement. Lewandowski won’t play until he’s 60 with us!”

On Vitor Roque and Julian Alvarez

After the turn of the year, Barcelona have already welcomed Vitor Roque. The youngster joins from Athletico Paranaense and is expected to boost the club’s attacking line.

Pedri has a lot of confidence in Roque, though he urged the fans to not exceed expectations of the Brazilian. “Vitor Roque is 18 years old, he is very young, you cannot ask him to be the new Pelé, but the truth is that he is a player who has a lot of confidence from the club,” he said.

Meanwhile, the midfielder hailed another South American talent in the form of Julian Alvarez, stating, “I like Julián Alvarez, the spider!”

Moving on, Pedri reflected on some of his personal shenanigans, including an update on his fitness.

“I don’t think I’ll travel with the team for the match against Las Palmas, because of the flight. I’ll be staying in Barcelona to recover,” Pedri said.

The youngster also talked about Tiktokers recording the Barcelona players, adding, “We go to the Ciudad Deportiva every day. The same 5-6 TikTokers are outside recording us, we stop if there is someone new, but it’s always the same ones.”

Talking about the plight of modern-day footballers, Pedri further added, “We need to listen to the players more, there are too many matches today, and you take away from the spectacle in the end because you can’t ask the players to be 100% in every match.”

Pedri’s gaming & entertainment preferences

As Pedri continues his recovery, the midfielder often relies on entertainment and gaming as his favourite pastimes.

Pedri revealed that he is rewatching Prison Break, adding, “Right now I’m rewatching Prison Break, even though I’ve seen it twice before. The first season of the series is the best season I have ever seen.”

Talking about anime, Pedri said, “I used to watch anime, very little, but I don’t watch anime anymore.”

As for Pedri’s gaming preferences, the midfielder does not enjoy playing League of Legends. “League of Legends? I don’t play it, too complicated,” he said. “I play EA FC.”
