Paul Pogba is set to resume his professional career with AS Monaco after agreeing to a two-year contract.

The 32-year-old has been a free agent since parting ways with Juventus in November 2024 and has now accepted a significant pay cut to join the Ligue 1 club..

Pogba had offers from clubs in the Middle East and Major League Soccer, but opted for a return to French football.

According to French outlets Le Parisien and Foot Mercato, Pogba reached an agreement with Monaco on Sunday following several days of negotiations.

The midfielder had travelled to the region in early June to meet club officials and assess off-pitch logistics, including accommodation and security arrangements.

His last professional appearance came in September 2023 for Juventus against Empoli, shortly before he tested positive for DHEA, a banned substance.

Initially suspended for four years, Pogba’s ban was reduced to 18 months by the Court of Arbitration for Sport, and he became eligible to play again in March 2025.

Monaco, who finished third in Ligue 1 last season and secured Champions League qualification, moved quickly once they were offered the chance to sign the France international.

Their interest dates back to the winter window but was shelved at the time due to financial constraints and concerns over fitness.

However, with Pogba keen to return and willing to compromise on salary, Monaco capitalised on stalled talks between him and other suitors.

He has won 91 caps for France and was a key part of the squad that lifted the World Cup in 2018. His move to Monaco is a major coup for the club and Ligue 1.
