Newcastle United looking to make it four wins in a row.

A massive match at the King Power with nine games remaining.

Paul Merson discussing the possibilities for Newcastle United in their away match against Leicester City, as United look to add Champions League qualification to silverware.

Paul Merson talking to Sportskeeda ahead of Leicester City v Newcastle United:

“I can’t see anything but a Newcastle United win here.

“They secured a brilliant win over Brentford in midweek.

“That result has put them in strong contention for a top four finish. Another win here and they will boost their chances even further.

“It’s a dream season already for Newcastle United.

“For them to win that trophy after so long was massively important.

“Now the icing on the cake would be finishing in the top four and returning to the Champions League.

“If Newcastle keep playing like this, they will have a strong chance of doing it.

“I’m a big fan of Newcastle’s midfield trio. Joelinton, Sandro Tonali and Bruno Guimaraes – they have everything from guile, strength and pace. They work together so well as a unit and that has made all the difference for Newcastle this season.

“Prediction: Leicester City 0 Newcastle United 3”

So is Paul Merson on the right track here?

Well, can’t disagree with much he has to say, only one thing really.

Paul Merson on the money with his comments on United’s class midfield trio, this season already a dream one, that great important win over Brentford, expected to beat Leicester, realistic hopes of Champions League football as well…

The only point to disagree on, a correction, is that of course the massive factor that helps the chances of Newcastle United (and others) when it comes to Champions League qualification, is the fact that it is ‘virtually impossible‘ for the Premier League not to get one of the two additional places in next season’s Champions League. So it is top five and not top four that will (potentially…) get Eddie Howe and his players that place in the top European competition.
