Bayer Leverkusen and Patrick Schick never know when they are beaten.
At home to European hopefuls Hoffenheim, Xabi Alonso’s side fell behind to a goal on the half hour by 21 year old Maximilian Beier.
It looked like their 38 game unbeaten run was finally coming to an end, with the Hoffenheim goalkeeper and woodwork keeping Xabi Alonso’s side at bay.
But as they have done so often, they struck late to turn the game on its head.
First, Robert Andrich levelled the game in the 88th minute, saving their unbeaten run.
But they weren’t finished, and in stoppage time striker Patrick Schick stepped up to sweep home a winner, and leave the home fans jubliant.
It continues Schick’s incredible record of saving Leverkusen this season, having rescued points with each of his last five goals.
His last five strikes have been:
A 90+2′ Equaliser A 90+3′ Equaliser A 90+7′ Winner A 53′ Winner A 90+1′ Winner
Often overlooked in the conversation of great strikers, Schick is spearheading Leverkusen’s title charge, and keeping their unbeaten run alive.
