West Ham United midfielder Lucas Paqueta is considering leaving the club this summer (h/t journalist Fabrizio Romano).
Manager Graham Potter believes Paqueta, who made 36 appearances last season, is ‘an important person in the dressing room’, but his future is uncertain.
Even though he was due to stay at the London Stadium beyond this summer, Paqueta recently received vindication for the spot-fixing charges levelled against him.
West Ham can now sell the 27-year-old. Manchester City showed interest in Paqueta before the allegations emerged, scuppering a move.
The Hammers are in the market for midfield additions, showing interest in Harvey Elliott, who is stylistically similar to Paqueta.
They also submitted a bid for Mateus Fernandes, who can fulfil the playmaker role.
West Ham may need a replacement for Paqueta and should consider moving for Leicester City’s Bilal El Khannouss.
He scored twice and created eight big chances in the Premier League last term as the Foxes suffered relegation.
The 21-year-old has started his stint in the second tier on fire, creating three big chances in his first game against Sheffield Wednesday.
El Khannouss played four key passes, completed three of his three dribbles, and won five of his nine duels.
He would be a terrific addition for West Ham if Paqueta exits the London Stadium this summer.
