Florian Plettenberg reports that Aurelio Buta is set to join Panathinaikos. The Greek side have reached a total agreement with Eintracht Frankfurt to sign the Portuguese defender for a reported €1m plus add-ons, with a medical examination expected to take place soon.
As reported last month, Mahmoud Dahoud, Aurelio Buta, Eric Junior Dina Ebimbe, and Hrvoje Smolcic are all free to negotiate their departures from Eintracht, with the quartet surplus to requirements. Smolcic is expected to finalise a move to Belgian side Anderlecht with Dina Ebimbe also subject to interest from Real Betis, Sevilla and Nice. Buta also had interest from Union Berlin, but a move to the Greece Super League is now nearing its completion.
It will signal an end to the 28-year-old’s time in Germany after joining Eintracht Frankfurt from Royal Antwerp in July 2022. Buta has made 65 appearances across all competitions, but spent last season on loan at Ligue 1 side Reims.
