Chelsea entertained Newcastle United at Stamford Bridge earlier tonight as they focused on securing a victory at home in the Premier League. The Blues made a quick start to the game and got their noses ahead in the sixth-minute when Nicolas Jackson found the back of the net. However, Newcastle equalised in the 43rd minute thanks to Alexander Isak’s effort. Both teams went into the half-time break with a 1-1 scoreline.
Cole Palmer restored Chelsea’s lead in the 57th minute before Mykhailo Mudryk put the contest to bed in the 76th minute. Jacob Murphy grabbed a late consolation goal for the Magpies as Mauricio Pochettino’s men secured a hard-fought 3-2 win in front of their home fans.
Let’s take a look at how each Chelsea player performed during the match against the Magpies.
GK: Dorde Petrovic – 5.5/10
He made just one save in the game and won’t be happy after failing to secure a clean sheet in both halves.
RB: Malo Gusto – 7/10
Gusto gave a good account of himself when defending inside his half and made one decent run with the ball.
CB: Axel Disasi – 7/10
He performed his defensive duties well and was accurate with his ball distribution.
CB: Trevoh Chalobah – 6/10
Chalobah cleared the danger when he could but was a bit wasteful on the ball.
