According to a recent report from SPORT, Marc-Andre ter Stegen turned down an offer from Galatasaray, with sources close to the Barcelona captain revealing that the Turkish club’s proposal failed to meet his expectations, both financially and on the sporting front.

Just yesterday, reports surfaced claiming that Galatasaray had offered the German shot-stopper a net salary of €5 million per season.

This came as part of a broader effort to resolve what is seen as one of Barcelona’s key squad issues, which is the need to part ways with Ter Stegen ahead of the 2025–26 season.

However, despite talk of an agreement between the player and the club, the reality appears quite different.

Meeting did not lead to an agreement

While there was a formal meeting between Galatasaray’s sporting department and representatives of ROOF, the agency that manages Ter Stegen’s career, the outcome was not as fruitful as anticipated.

A ROOF delegate reportedly travelled to Istanbul last week to listen to the proposal, but the offer was not convincing enough for the player’s camp.

Sources say that not only were there financial gaps in the proposal, but the sporting project also did not align with Ter Stegen’s goals.

As a result, the German’s agent declined Galatasaray’s initial approach. For now, no agreement has been reached, and the goalkeeper’s future remains open.

Committed to fighting for Barcelona spot

Despite Barcelona securing a deal with Joan Garcia, Ter Stegen has shown no interest in leaving the club. The German international is determined to stay and compete for the starting position under Hansi Flick.

While managing three top-tier goalkeepers in one squad, including Wojciech Szczesny, could create both sporting tension and financial strain, especially with such high salaries involved, Ter Stegen remains firm in his stance.

He has no intention of stepping aside quietly and is ready to take on the challenge of proving his worth once again at Camp Nou.
