La Liga giants Real Madrid are readying something of a shake-up to the club’s midfield ranks ahead of the fast-approaching summer transfer deadline.

That’s according to ESPN, who have on Monday provided an insight into the latest developments behind the scenes in Spain’s capital.

A long-time member of the engine room setup at Real Madrid has seen his future completely thrown up in the air early this week.

As much comes amid the widespread understanding that Los Blancos have opened negotiations with French outfit Olympique Marseille, over a potential deal for Dani Ceballos.

The sides are said to be talking over either a permanent move, or a loan featuring an obligation to buy.

Before any such operation has been green-lighted, however, Real have begun scouring the market for a replacement.

As per ESPN:

‘Xabi Alonso doesn’t want to part with a player without first finding a replacement, and sources admit that Madrid and Marseille are already negotiating a transfer.’

Florentino Pérez and co, in turn, have ‘not ruled out’ the arrival of one more player before the transfer window slams shut.
