Crystal Palace boss Oliver Glasner says he has some “tough decisions” to make for the FA Cup final against Manchester City.
Only Chadi Riad and Cheick Doucoure will be unavailable for the clash with long-term injuries, and Adam Wharton has recovered from his knock to come into contention.
“It’s positive news, everyone is fit,” Glasner said. “Adam [Wharton] trained the whole week and is available, and all the others are fit.
“There are some tough decisions to take – but good decisions to take.”
Having lost both of their previous final appearances against Manchester City’s rivals Manchester United, Palace are hoping for a better result this time around.
“It feels like a normal game,” Glasner said. “There’s much more attention and interviews to do during the week, but our preparations have been more or less the same as for a Premier League game, like they were for the semi-final and quarter-final.
“We focused on what we want to do tomorrow, we analysed Manchester City, but 90% we talked about us.
“We can influence what we want to do. The focus was on our game, and maybe having one or two small adjustments, because the players did very well in the last couple of weeks. We have a lot of confidence and are looking forward to the final.”
Palace captain Marc Guehi was quick to put to bed any idea that this might be a good time to play City. He said: “Have they slipped off? They are in another final, so I don’t know. We all know how good Man City are and their quality.”
“Like the manager said, we will focus on ourselves, on doing the best we can for the fans.”
Like Guehi, Man City’s qualities are not lost on Palace’s Austrian manager either, with Glasner saying: “They are back in shape again. They have had some very good results for the last couple of weeks, players coming back from injury.
“We have to find the right solution. When we know what they want to do then it’s how we react, but we are still confident that we are able to score a goal.”
Palace and Glasner are all too aware of City’s qualities having lost 5-2 at the Etihad in April. Glasner continued: “Since I arrived we have played them three times. In every single game we have scored two goals, but we just have one draw because we have conceded four, two and five.
“We have to make adjustments in our defending because when you concede five [goals] it’s tough to win, but when you score two you should be able to win.
“We have confidence that we will create our chances and situations to score goals, but we have to do better in defence.
“I don’t mean the back three or back five, but as a team. So we have to adjust a few things and this is what we want to do tomorrow.”
On overcoming City and lifting the trophy, Glasner said: “You can ask me after the game – I don’t talk about this because we haven’t won anything.
“We have a great game in front of us but I don’t do if this happens, if this happens, if this happens. So when it happens we can talk about it.
“We feel well-prepared for this game. We will give our best, every single one, as long as he’s playing or even if he’s not playing and supporting the team. This is what we can do. This is the only thing we can do and then let’s see.
“This is the same approach as before the semi-finals and the quarter-finals… we had the same approach.
“Show who we are, show how we want to play and try to win the game. this will be the same tomorrow. We will try to win the game as Crystal Palace, what made us successful and let’s see, because then it is football.
“We want to enjoy this moment. It’s a great time for the club, it’s a great time for all of us, it’s a great time for our fans, having such a successful period at the end of the season.
“We’re playing for silverware, that’s not common. I can’t see any reason why we shouldn’t enjoy it.”
