Okafor issues brief comment as mystery still surrounds failed RB Leipzig move | OneFootball

Noah Okafor has claimed that he does not know why his move to RB Leipzig fell through as he landed back in Italy late last night.

Okafor flew to do his medical on Monday after a deal between Milan and the German club was agreed, but then it emerged that the operation had in fact collapsed and that he would not be joining after all.

Conflicting stories then came out, with Fabrizio Romano stating that it was off because Okafor ‘won’t be available for the next 3/4 weeks’, while MilanNews spoke of economic/contractual differences between Okafor, Leipzig and his entourage.

According to what is being reported by Corriere della Sera (via MilanNews), the deal has in fact fallen through due to a question of money rather than because of some unknown injury issue emerging during the medical.

This represents a blow for the Diavolo, because the return of the Swiss forward means there will not be a spot in the squad freed up for Marcus Rashford or Kyle Walker, who are currently the main targets.

Not only that, but they cannot count on the funds of either the loan fee or the option to buy. When asked by journalists what went wrong after landing back in Italy, Okafor simply said: “I don’t know.”
