Official: Thomas Partey seals La Liga return after Arsenal exit | OneFootball

Free agent midfielder Thomas Partey has on Thursday secured a return to Spanish football.

This comes amid confirmation that the 32-year-old has put pen to paper on contract terms with La Liga outfit Villarreal.

Ghanaian international Partey for his part brought a close to his time on the books of Premier League giants Arsenal earlier this summer.

After recently being granted bail following a court case in England, the former Atlético Madrid man, in turn, became available as a free agent.

A number of clubs are understood to have expressed an interest in his signature over recent weeks, but one had long emerged as the frontrunners – the aforementioned Villarreal.

And as alluded to above, on Thursday, the Yellow Submarine have officially landed their man.

As per a statement across the website and social media channels of the La Liga outfit:

‘Villarreal CF and Thomas Partey have reached an agreement for the Ghanaian footballer to join the Yellows ahead of the 2025/26 season. The player will join up with his new team tomorrow at the Training Ground.’
