Official: Theo Hernández leaves Milan and joins Al-Hilal on a permanent basis | OneFootball

Theo Hernández’s time at Milan has come to an end as he starts a new adventure in Saudi Arabia.

Theo was without a doubt one of the biggest stars and most influential players at Milan in recent years, turning into one of the best left-backs in world football.

However, the last couple of years have been rough for Theo on a sporting level and his level dropped. With a deal expiring in 2026, the club chose not to offer him a new contract and today (Thursday), his exit became official.

“Milan can confirm that Theo Bernard François Hernández has joined Al-Hilal SFC on a permanent basis. The Club would like to thank Theo for these six years together and wishes him all the best for his future personal and professional endeavours,” a statement reads.

After 262 appearances, 34 goals and 45 assists, Theo says goodbye to the Rossoneri. He bid his farewell with a message on social media:

“After six years at this club, the time has come to say goodbye.

“I joined Milan in 2019 with dreams, ambition, and the excitement of wearing a jersey full of history. Today I leave after experiencing unforgettable moments, like winning the Serie A title and the Italian Super Cup, and above all, after sharing the locker room with extraordinary people.

“A heartfelt thank you to my teammates, to every coach who believed in me, and especially to Paolo Maldini for his support, vision, and leadership. And thank you to the Rossoneri fans, who have always been there – through the good times and the tough ones. Feeling your support has been a privilege I will never forget and will carry with me forever.

“My decision to leave hasn’t been easy. I always knew where I wanted to be, and Milan was always my priority. But unfortunately, not everything depends on one person. The direction the club has taken and some recent decisions do not reflect the values or the ambition that brought me here. It’s time to close one chapter and start another – different, but just as important to me.

“I leave with my head held high, because I have always given everything for this club, committing myself fully and sharing the same dreams as the fans. I leave with a full heart and with the hope that Milan will soon return to the place it deserves. Milan will always be a part of me.”

It’s believed that Al-Hilal are paying Milan €25 million fee for Theo. A new left-back will arrive.
