Real Madrid will play their first match after the international break in under a couple of hours when they take on Real Sociedad at the Reale Arena.

Ahead of the contest, manager Carlo Ancelotti has announced the starting lineup that will be taking the field against Imanol Alguacil’s men.

Coming into the game, there was a lot of debate about who between Brahim Diaz and Arda Guler could start in midfield for Real Madrid amidst the injury woes.

And, Ancelotti has opted to start with both players, possibly tweaking the formation to a 4-1-2-1-2, similar to what Real Madrid played last season.

In that case, Brahim could occupy the attacking midfield position with Guler operating as one of the two interior midfielders alongside Federico Valverde. Captain Luka Modric would occupy the pivot position.

Alternatively, it could possibly also be a 4-3-3 with Brahim on the right flank. Kylian Mbappe and Vinicius Jr. complete the rest of the Real Madrid attack, with Rodrygo Goes being benched.

Eder Militao and Ferland Mendy start in defence, having recovered from their respective injuries. Dani Carvajal and Antonio Rudiger complete the Real Madrid defence with Thibaut Courtois lining up in goal.
