Real Madrid will finally get their 2025/26 La Liga season underway tonight as they host CA Osasuna at the Santiago Bernabeu in an hour or so.
Ahead of kickoff, manager Xabi Alonso, making his debut in La Liga, has announced the starting lineup for his first match in charge at the Santiago Bernabeu.
Three of Real Madrid’s four new signings start as Trent Alexander-Arnold, Dean Huijsen, and Alvaro Carreras make up the defence alongside Eder Militao. Thibaut Courtois guards the goal.
Federico Valverde is back in action after missing the pre-season friendly against WSG Tirol due to some discomfort. Not only does he start, the Uruguayan midfielder also captains Real Madrid today, with Dani Carvajal on the bench.
Valverde is partnered with Aurelien Tchouameni in the middle of the park while Arda Guler also continues to play as a central midfielder in Alonso’s system.
Up ahead, Kylian Mbappe spearheads the Real Madrid frontline flanked by the duo of Brahim Diaz and Vinicius Jr.
It means that Rodrygo Goes does not have a place in the team while new signing Franco Mastantuono also remains on the bench.
