Following the exit of Luka Modric, Real Madrid have now officially announced that another club legend, Lucas Vazquez, will be leaving.

A farewell ceremony will be held to bid goodbye to the versatile right-back who will say goodbye to the club after 18 years.

“Real Madrid announces that tomorrow, Thursday, July 17, at 1:00 p.m., an institutional tribute and farewell ceremony for our player Lucas Vazquez will take place at Real Madrid City, with the presence of our president, Florentino Perez,” the statement read.

“Real Madrid would like to express its gratitude and affection for Lucas Vazquez, one of our club’s greatest legends.”

Vazquez joined Real Madrid in 2007 at the age of 16 and made his first-team debut in 2015, after spending a season on loan at RCD Espanyol.

Since then, the 34-year-old went on to make 402 appearances over a period of ten years for Los Blancos, winning 23 titles: five UEFA Champions Leagues, five Club World Cups, four European Super Cups, four La Liga titles, one Copa del Rey, and four Spanish Super Cups.

Real Madrid president Florentino Perez, paid tribute to the icon, saying: “Lucas Vazquez exemplarily represents the values of Real Madrid, which has made him one of the most beloved players by our fans.

“Lucas Vazquez symbolizes the hard work, perseverance, humility, and winning spirit essential to succeed in this shirt. He is a player who earns the affection and recognition of all Real Madrid fans. Real Madrid is and always will be his home.”
