An official Newcastle United injury update on Tuesday morning.
Eddie Howe talking to journalists.
The NUFC Head Coach speaking ahead of this match at St James’ Park.
Eddie Howe hoping to see his team bounce back to the kind of form shown in the wins against Chelsea, Arsenal and Forest last month.
Official Newcastle United injury update – Availability for the Liverpool match (and beyond):
Eddie Howe on Alexander Isak:
“He took a knock to his hip.
“We haven’t seen him in training yet.
“But we don’t think it is a long-term injury.
“We’ll see [about Liverpool], it will be about pain management.”
(In an interview with beIN Sports, Alexander Isak has been asked if he will play against Liverpool, replying ‘That’s the plan, with the Newcastle striker saying after the injury at Palace that forced him off, ‘I am fine, it was really painful, a bad knock, but I have responded well.’)
When asked if he would play against Liverpool on Wednesday, he responded: “That’s the plan.”
Eddie Howe on Dan Burn:
“Dan got through the [Crystal Palace] game well.
“When he got suspended [for the West Ham match], we used that as an opportunity to look after his ankle and get himself fit.
“He was outstanding against Crystal Palace and he came through the game okay.”
So it appears that Lascelles, Botman and Krafth will all remain out.
With then Eddie Howe making a decision today after training today about what Isak’s involvement will be, if any, against Liverpool. Great news anyway that there appears to be no significant injury concern.
