Juventus have officially confirmed that Paolo Montero will take charge of the club’s Next Gen side for the 2024-25 season.

The former Bianconeri defender has signed a new two-year contract in Turin which will run until the summer of 2026. The Uruguayan had previously served as Juve’s Primavera coach, and had also led the senior side as interim for the final few games of the Serie A season after Massimiliano Allegri’s explosive departure.

In becoming the new Juventus Next Gen coach, Montero has become the first person to take charge of Juventus’s U19 side, U23 side as well as the first team.

“First of all, I would like to thank Juventus for putting their trust in me. It is an honour for me to continue coaching at this club and my primary objective will be to help my players continue their development,” Montero said in a statement released on Juventus’s club website.

“Enthusiasm, joy, passion and a sense of belonging will be our fundamental principles. The latter, the sense of belonging at this club, will be the most important value to pass on to the players, because it will be the difference maker on the pitch.”

Juventus have credited Montero with helping in the development of a number of recent first team graduates, including Turkey international Kenan Yildiz and 2024 Roma loanee Dean Huijsen.
