Official: Milan striker undergoes surgery on chronic groin injury

Milan have confirmed that striker Luka Jovic has undergone surgery to combat chronic pain in and around his groin and that he is expected to miss around four weeks of action as a result.

Milan confirm surgery for Jovic

The Rossoneri confirmed in an official statement that Jovic has had surgery in Belgrade back in his native Serbia, and that he was accompanied by a club doctor, who oversaw the operation.

Specifically, the surgery was to reinforce his left inguinal canal, which the club hopes will Jovic’s Publiglia, a chronic condition that causes pain in and around the groin.

Jovic will stay in Serbia to rest for eight days before returning to Milanello to continue his rehabilitation process.

If he is fit and available to return in four weeks’ time, then he should be able to join his teammates for the Serie A match at home against Roma on December 29, the final game before the Serie A winter break.

Jovic has started just once for Milan this season, in the 2-2 draw against Torino on the opening day of the 2024-25 season. He has since come on for two further cameos against Parma and Lecce for a total of 78 minutes of league action so far in 2024-25.
