Lyon midfielder Mahamadou Diawara (19) has joined Ligue 1 rivals Le Havre on loan, both clubs have announced. The France U21 international’s loan from Rhône to Normandy includes no option to make his move permanent. Diawara remains tied with Olympique Lyonnais over a contract set to expire in 2028. The 19-year-old midfielder has featured 16 times for Lyon. Diawara previously informed Les Gones of his desire to leave during this winter transfer window due to his limited game time this season, with the midfielder only making four brief appearances off the bench.

Diawara is the second player Didier Digard’s Le Havre have signed this winter transfer window, after Ahmed Hossan. Le Havre’s position in the league remains precarious. The Normandy outfit lost their last five Ligue 1 games. Le Havre are 17th in the standings. They will reunite with former head coach Luka Elsner as Le Havre travel to Reims this Sunday.
