Official | Lyon midfielder Jordan Veretout joins Al-Arabi

France international midfielder Jordan Veretout (32) has left Lyon to sign for Qatar’s Al-Arabi, both clubs have announced. Veretout’s exit was expected, given his rather important wages and the austerity measures implemented by the club’s new Textor-less hierarchy. Les Gones have agreed to a €500k transfer fee as well as a 50% sell-on clause. Veretout had just a year left on his Lyon contract.

The Nantes Academy product joined Lyon from Ligue 1 rivals Marseille less than a year ago, in the dying hours of the 2024 summer transfer window. Veretout went on to feature 38 times for Les Gones during the 2024-2025 campaign. He scored twice and registered one assist in that time. Veretout has signed a two-year deal with Al-Arabi.
