Official: Juventus confirm Giuntoli is no longer sporting director | OneFootball

Juventus have officially confirmed that Cristiano Giuntoli has left his position as sporting director through a mutual agreement, ending his two-year spell with the Bianconeri.

“Juventus and Cristiano Giuntoli announce that they have mutually agreed to the termination of his employment contract,” a short statement on the club website read.

“The decision was based on a joint assessment of future perspectives and mutual priorities,” the statement concluded.

Giuntoli leaves the Bianconeri after a two-year spell as the club’s sporting director.

While Juventus achieved Champions League qualification in both of the seasons that Giuntoli was with the club (third in 2023-24, fourth in 2024-25), the director has come under criticism for a number of his signings and appointments.

The summer of 2024 brought significant investments in the likes of Douglas Luiz from Aston Villa, Teun Koopmeiners from Atalanta, Khephren Thuram from OGC Nice, Nico Gonzalez from Fiorentina and Michele Di Gregorio from Monza, costing over €200m with all bonuses and add-ons included.

Meanwhile, Juve took decisions to let go of a number of valuable talents, most notably Dean Huijsen to AFC Bournemouth for a total package of €18m including bonuses. The Next Gen product has since moved to Real Madrid for a €59m (£50m) fee, less than a year later.

Giuntoli also played a pivotal role in the appointment of Thiago Motta at the beginning of the 2024-25 season. The former Bologna head coach was unable to last the full season, and was replaced by Igor Tudor in March.

Juventus are still considering their options for a permanent head coach to lead them into 2025-26, with interim Tudor still in contention to land the job on a full-time basis.

The Bianconeri are now also looking for a new sporting director to replace Giuntoli.

In a change of scene in the Bianconeri senior management, the club have also recently confirmed the appointment of Damien Comolli as the new general manager, while Giorgio Chiellini is also expected to be given more responsibilities behind the scenes.
