Atalanta are set to be without key midfielder Ederson for another few weeks, as confirmation has arrived that he is suffering with a meniscus injury, which has kept him out of the first two Serie A matches of the season.

When will Ederson return for Atalanta?

Ederson was not involved for Atalanta’s 1-1 stalemate against Parma on Saturday, nor was he for the 1-1 draw with newly-promoted Pisa in the opening round of 2025-26 fixtures.

The issue originally began ahead of Atalanta’s pre-season friendly against Juventus on August 9, meaning that the player might miss around seven to eight weeks total.

Atalanta will not play again until after the international break, but with Ederson set to miss most of September’s action, he will likely be unavailable for upcoming matches against Lecce, Torino and Juventus in Serie A, plus the opening match of the team’s Champions League campaign against Paris Saint-Germain.

Sunday’s update confirms that Ederson has begun treatment in Rome.
