Gonzalo Garcia was one of the standout performers in last season’s FIFA Club World Cup, finishing as the joint top scorer with four goals and earning a place in FIFA’s Team of the Tournament.
The 20-year-old’s meteoric rise has now been rewarded, with Real Madrid officially announcing that the young forward has signed a new five-year deal, keeping him at the club until 2030.
“Real Madrid C. F. and Gonzalo García have agreed to extend our player’s contract, which will keep him at the club for the next five seasons, until June 30, 2030,” the statement read.
“Gonzalo will now be part of Real Madrid’s first team,” the statement added, suggesting that coach Xabi Alonso is fully keen on integrating the youngster as part of the first-team.
Despite there being some speculations about him being given the No. 9 shirt, Gonzalo will be taking the No. 16 shirt instead, with Endrick inheriting the #9.

Gonzalo’s journey with Los Blancos began in 2014 when he joined the academy at just 10 years old.
After steadily progressing through the youth ranks, he made his first-team debut in November 2023, contributing to that season’s La Liga title triumph.
Last season, he delivered a remarkable 25 goals for Castilla, becoming the top scorer in the Primera Federación since its creation and matching the best single-season scoring record for a Castilla player in the 21st century.
With his new deal signed, Gonzalo will now be a permanent part of Xabi Alonso’s first-team squad.
His mix of prolific finishing, movement in the box, and big-game temperament could make a real asset for Los Blancos next season.
