Official: Barcelona & Real Madrid learn Copa del Rey semi-final opponents | OneFootball

The final four clubs remaining in the Copa del Rey have on Wednesday learned their respective opponents for the competition’s semi-finals.

And, for the time being at least, a Clásico showdown has been avoided.

This comes with Carlo Ancelotti’s Real Madrid having been pitted against Real Sociedad.

Barcelona, on the other hand, have been assigned a daunting semi-final task, in besting Diego Simeone’s high-flying Atlético Madrid.

The two Copa semi-final first legs will play out in two weeks’ time, on Wednesday, February 26th.

From here, the return legs have been scheduled for April 2nd.

When it comes to the order of the fixtures, Barcelona will first act as hosts, before making the trip to Spain’s capital to face Atlético for the 2nd leg.

Real Madrid, meanwhile, will first head on the road to Anoeta, before welcoming Real Sociedad to the Santiago Bernabéu in early April.
