Nottingham Forest are pushing to sign Pablo Maffeo from RCD Mallorca and negotiations are on track at the moment.
The Tricky Trees have been active in the ongoing window and they are trying to bring in players who will be able to significantly improve their team.
Forest are in Europe next season and to avoid putting pressure on the existing squad, they are planning to beef up areas where they need to.
Nuno Espirito Santo has identified and pointed the club hierarchy that the right-back position is where they will need to improve in this window.
They have turned their attention to the Spanish market and Mallorca’s Maffeo is on their radar now.
It has been suggested that the Tricky Trees have gone to the La Liga outfit with a bid in the region of €6m and they have already reached personal terms with Maffeo.
Mallorca has yet to respond to their offer, but according to Spanish journalist Marcos Benito, Nottingham Forest are pushing to get the deal over the line.
It has been suggested that negotiations between both clubs are on track and Nuno will be hoping that they will be able to close the deal before the pre-season training camp begins.
Maffeo joined Mallorca from VfB Stuttgart in the summer of 2021 on loan and earned a permanent move the following summer after an impressive season.
The Argentine is a key player in their starting line-up and last season featured 30 league games for them.
Maffeo is no stranger to English football, as he was part of the Manchester City academy system and played three senior games for the Sky Blues before moving to Stuttgart in 2018.
