Nuno Espírito Santo is not merely tinkering at Nottingham Forest, he is preparing a major reshuffle down the flanks. As reported by the Telegraph, the Forest boss is aiming to reunite with Adama Traore while closing in on a club-record deal for Dan Ndoye.
The Swiss international has become a headline priority following the £55 million sale of Anthony Elanga to Newcastle. That windfall has empowered Forest to negotiate hard with Bologna, who are holding firm and demanding a record-breaking fee. “Forest are also in advanced negotiations with Bologna for Ndoye and a deal to sign the Switzerland international is reaching a conclusion,” the report confirms.
Ndoye’s desire to play in the Premier League is the catalyst. The 24-year-old has notified Bologna of his intent and a five-year contract awaits at the City Ground if terms are finalised. Evangelos Marinakis, Forest’s owner, is personally intervening to ensure progress, with direct talks now under way with Bologna’s board.

Ndoye would eclipse the £30 million Forest previously paid for Ibrahim Sangaré and inch ahead of Morgan Gibbs-White’s eventual total fee. With eight Serie A goals and four assists last season, alongside a strong showing at the Euros where “he started every match to help Switzerland reach the quarter-finals”, Ndoye offers form, flair and maturity.
Forest’s wing-focused recruitment strategy doesn’t end with Ndoye. “Adama worked with Nuno at Wolves and Forest are ready to open talks with Fulham over a potential deal.” His explosive pace is viewed as the natural successor to Elanga’s threat.
This isn’t just a numbers game. Ramón Sosa has joined Palmeiras for £10 million, while Jota Silva is being courted by clubs in Portugal and Saudi Arabia. Nuno’s blueprint demands wide threats, and Forest’s focus is relentless. As the Telegraph reveals, “Forest are prioritising the addition of at least two new wingers”.
Aston Villa’s Jacob Ramsey and Liverpool’s Ben Doak have been discussed internally, but it is Ndoye who “ticks all the boxes for Forest’s recruitment team”. At 24, he fits the age profile, possesses European pedigree and has scope for development.
Forest appear all in, aiming to add both style and substance to the wings. Now it’s about sealing the deals.
There’s a real buzz around the City Ground now. If these moves come off, Forest fans can start dreaming of watching a side that plays with width, urgency and purpose. Ndoye’s numbers are no joke – eight goals and four assists in Serie A, plus a strong Euro 2024 campaign. He’s the kind of player Forest have lacked for years, someone who can take on defenders, stretch the play and offer end product.
And then there’s Adama. Yes, he’s inconsistent. But under Nuno, he delivered some of the most devastating performances seen in the Premier League. If anyone knows how to use Traore, it’s our current gaffer. For fans, that reunion is a romantic prospect but also a practical one, especially after losing Elanga.
Selling Elanga for £55 million was a masterstroke. Now reinvest it wisely. Add Ndoye, bring in Traore, and maybe even take a cheeky punt on Doak. The flanks could go from Forest’s weakness to our greatest strength.
Let’s hope Marinakis can get this over the line. We’ve seen plans fall through before, but this feels different. It feels like Forest are finally acting like a Premier League club.
