Inter Milan may well have known that they had a firm advantage heading into yesterday’s Champions League round of sixteen second leg against Feyenoord.

Not only were Inter 2-0 up from the first leg. They were also a team with little European experience, and missing numerous big names due to injury.

However, Feyenoord were always going to try and use those drawbacks in their favour.

The Eredivisie side unsurprisingly came out aiming to play a high tempo game and put Inter under pressure.

And in many respects, the Feyenoord team that Inter faced were an unknown quantity.

Inter scored early on through Marcus Thuram. That gave them a big psychological boost.

Then, Feyenoord did get a goal back from the penalty spot.

In a truly “pazza” mode, this might have been enough to send Inter into a tailspin.

However, the Nerazzurri were able to respond by calming the match down. They eventually got a penalty of their own, from which they were able to wrap the match up.
