According to a report from SPORT, it has come to light that Nico Williams’ family have given him their full support in his decision to join Barcelona.
This is a big shift compared to last summer, when his closest relatives pressured him to stay at Athletic Club.
Back then, it was the strong push from his family that convinced Nico to remain in Bilbao. His brother Inaki and his mother Maria Arthur believed it was not yet the right moment for Nico to leave the club he had called home since he was a child.
They hoped he would help Athletic reach the Europa League final, a dream that unfortunately ended in the semi-finals.
But this year, the situation has changed. Nico himself has made it clear that he wants to play for Barcelona.
While some paperwork and legal issues still need to be sorted for his registration in LaLiga, his desire to move is stronger than ever.

Unlike last year, his family has now accepted his wish and decided not to put any pressure on him to stay at Athletic. Instead, they are fully behind his choice and want what’s best for him.
Nico’s family understands that he has grown as a player and is ready to take the next step in his career. They have realised it is time for him to leave the comfort and look for new challenges.
Whether he ends up at Barcelona or another top club like Bayern Munich, his family supports him wholeheartedly.
This change in attitude from his family removes a major obstacle that stopped the transfer last summer.
With his loved ones backing his decision, Nico can now focus on what’s next without worrying about disappointing anyone at home, although the same cannot be said about Athletic Club fans.
