Ousmane Dembele’s role in helping Paris Saint-Germain secure their maiden Champions League title cannot be understated.

The Frenchman was a shining beacon for Luis Enrique’s team throughout the campaign, notably racking up 33 goals and 15 assists in all competitions.

Dembele’s exploits helped PSG not only secure the league title but also win the treble.

Speaking to the media after the UCL triumph, Dembele was asked about his time at Barcelona and the criticism he faced about his lifestyle, from none other than the sporting director.

Dembele only has fond memories of Barcelona

In response, though, Dembele, instead of attacking Barcelona, chose to look back fondly on his time in Catalonia.

The former Dortmund winger explained how he learnt many things at Barça, playing alongside some of the best players in the world. He also refused to say anything bad about the club.

Talking about the criticism he faced about his lifestyle, he said (h/t FCB World), “These are things that happen in a player’s career. I moved to Barcelona when I was 20, and it was the club of my life.”

“I learned a lot from great players there, like Messi. I wouldn’t say anything bad about Barcelona. I learned a lot there,” he added.

Dembele’s humility towards Barcelona is not surprising given that the Catalan club had supported the Frenchman a lot during his struggles at Camp Nou.

While he did eventually leave Barcelona, he did so by making sure Barcelona earn a fortune from his sale, with PSG paying no less than €50 million for his services.

For now, having led his team to a historic treble, Dembele will be eyeing the Ballon d’Or, where he will face stiff competition from Barcelona attacking duo Raphinha and Lamine Yamal.
