Newcastle United under-21 midfielder Anthony Munda has been impressing the first-team coaching staff and is pushing for first-team minutes, according to The Athletic journalist Chris Waugh.
Magpies manager Eddie Howe invited the 18-year-old to first-team training ahead of last month’s match against Brighton & Hove Albion, and his development is being monitored closely.
With Lewis Miley back from injury, Newcastle are well-stocked in the middle of the park, leaving Munda with limited chances to get onto the pitch right now.
However, the ‘first-team coaches like what they are seeing’, and the teenage sensation could get an opportunity to see action in the FA Cup early next year.
Trevan Sanusi is another youngster knocking on the first-team door, having been producing impressive performances at under-21 level.
However, he is far from the finished article and still needs to keep developing if he is to make his professional bow this term.
Sanusi and Munda both featured when Newcastle took on Hull City in a pre-season friendly in July 2024, and it will be interesting to see whether they can force their way into the senior squad.
Munda made his Premier League 2 debut against Blackburn Rovers in January and scored on his second start against Wolverhampton Wanderers.
