Newcastle United midfielder Joelinton is in contention for a first Brazil cap, according to the Daily Mail.
The 26-year-old has been in fine form for the Magpies this term and could now be rewarded with an international call-up.
Joelinton last represented Brazil at under-17 level. He scored two goals in four games for the side in 2013.
Former Brazil manager Tite was at St James’ Park in October to watch Newcastle beat Aston Villa 4-0, with the midfielder among the goals.
Tite was also running the rule over Bruno Guimaraes and the 25-year-old holding midfielder made his World Cup squad to Qatar.
He would have been impressed with Joelinton’s performance. However, there was no space for him in the star-studded squad.
Brazil return to action for the first time since their disappointing World Cup campaign next month.
They have two friendly matches lined up but have not yet confirmed their opponents.
Tite left Brazil at the end of his contract, and the search for his replacement has continued.
The next manager is expected to ring the changes. Joelinton could be one of the players to become a part of the new cycle.
He has scored four goals and claimed two assists in 25 games across all competitions this term.
The former Hoffenheim striker struggled in his debut season at Newcastle but has been impressive recently.
Manager Eddie Howe has converted him from a centre-forward into a central midfielder.
It has yielded a lot of positives, and Joelinton could soon become a regular for his country if he keeps impressing at this rate.
