Another good weekend of football came to a close with two results that boosted Newcastle United in our quest for a European place.
On Sunday, Manchester United held Liverpool to a draw at Old Trafford.
I despise both clubs and even though the Salfords are above us, I don’t want Klopp and LiVARpool to the win the Premier League title.
The EPL is a three horse race with Manchester City, the scousers and Arsenal. Man City have the most favourable run-in and I think they will prevail yet again.
In the following game on Sunday, Chelsea conceded an injury time equaliser to Sheffield United at Bramall Lane.
I honestly cannot see these West London bluffers finishing above Newcastle and the same goes for West Ham.
I reckon it’s between Newcastle United and Man Utd now as to who finishes 6th and gets into the Europa League.
We trail the reds by two points but have a far superior goal difference.
Old Trafford hasn’t been a fortress for years and the Toon can beat them again in front of the many day trippers at the Theatre of Screams.
After taking seven points from our last three games I am confident that we can turn Tottenham Hotspur over at St James’ Park on Saturday lunchtime.
Eddie and the boys will have had a full week to prepare and I cannot think of any team that we have dished as many real hidings out to at Gallowgate over the last 30 years, than Spurs.
The Toon Army are in buoyant mood and I receive regular updates from the likes of my mate Tony Mallabar when we are on our travels.
I also saw against Fulham that the team had begun to shake free from their recent inhibitions whilst in possession, especially in the second half.
Things are looking promising and if Eddie Howe guides us into Europe again, I don’t think we can complain.
We have to put behind us what has previously happened during this very hard and taxing campaign, as there are definitely beams of light streaming through at the end of this long tunnel.
We have a canny run-in and every game left is winnable.
If I was a gambling man, I might even be tempted to go and hoy a few quid on Eddie and the Hotrods doing ‘Seven in a Row’.
Now that Sunderland’s season has been well and truly over for months, the folk on Wearside might even fancy a flutter on the Toon.
Well, you never know, do you Marra?
