Some very interesting odds on Premier League top four (and other possibilities) for the 2024/25 season where Newcastle United are concerned, with bookies taking stock after Monday night’s defeat to West Ham.
That defeat came in the final game of this twelfth PL round of matches.
The Premier League now heads into another weekend of games.
Newcastle United looking to bounce back to the winning form, that saw a run of three wins against Chelsea in the Carabao Cup, Arsenal and Forest in the Premier League, before that defeat to the Hammers.
The bookies and punters reacting to how things now stand in the Premier League table (see below), as well of course, how they are now seeing the underlying strengths of the various teams and squads.
Listed below are the general Premier League odds now available from the various bookies for the 2024/25 season (in brackets are what the odds were after the opening round of PL games):
Win the Premier League:
10/11(13/2) Liverpool
3/1 (9/5) Arsenal
4/1 (11/8) Man City
20/1 (40/1) Chelsea
50/1 (33/1) Tottenham
150/1 (28/1) Man U
250/1 (40/1 Newcastle United
250/1 (66/1) Aston Villa
250/1 (200/1) Brighton
So Newcastle United now rated equal seventh most likely.
At the very top, Liverpool now clear favourites, whilst Arsenal next most fancied and Man City only third favourites.
This is how the Premier League table looks today (Friday 29 November 2024):
Premier League relegation:
1/7 (1/1) Southampton
4/7 (1/2) Leicester
4/6 (10/11) Ipswich
5/2 (7/2) Wolves
5/2 (5/2) Everton
7/2 (10/1) Palace
12/1 (12/1) Man City
18/1 (20/1) West Ham
20/1 (7/1) Brentford
50/1 (3/1) Forest
66/1 (11/2) Fulham
66/1 (7/1) Bournemouth
200/1 (40/1) Chelsea
500/1 (40/1) Brighton
500/1 (250/1) Man U
500/1 (200/1) Villa
500/1 (250/1) Tottenham
500/1 (250/1) Newcastle United
2,000/1 (2,000/1) Liverpool
2,000/1 (2,000/1) Arsenal
Eddie Howe’s team now seen as joint third least likely to go down in the 2024/25 season.
If you are wondering about the Man City 12/1 odds of relegation, this is due to the possibility (probability?) of severe punishment from the 115 Premier League charges they face, which could include amongst other sanctions, points deduction or even relegation. That hearing now reported to be ongoing.
Finish Premier League top four:
1/25 (1/2) Liverpool
1/10 (1/9) Arsenal
1/3 (1/7) Man City
4/7 (9/4) Chelsea
5/2 (9/4) Tottenham
6/1 (11/1) Brighton
13/2 (9/4) Newcastle United
7/1 (2/1) Man U
8/1 (7/2) Villa
50/1 (100/1) Forest
50/1 (66/1) Fulham
This is where, like me, I guess you will be giving most focus.
Can Newcastle United bounce back into the Premier League top four and get Champions League football?
Well the bookies now have NUFC seventh most likely, after that defeat to West Ham.
Now a question of can Eddie Howe’s side bounce back to the winning form they showed against Chelsea, Arsenal and Forest ahead of the international break.
