Newcastle United’s search for attacking reinforcements has taken another twist, with Paris Saint-Germain’s Goncalo Ramos once again on their radar. According to the Daily Mail, the Portuguese forward is now viewed as a realistic target as uncertainty continues around Alexander Isak’s potential move to Liverpool.
The 24-year-old was considered earlier this month but initial enquiries suggested a deal was unlikely. Now intermediaries believe progress can be made. “Daily Mail Sport has learnt that Ramos is now a live option for the Magpies,” with admiration for his work rate and pedigree at St James’ Park.
PSG are open to a sale rather than a loan, and with Newcastle’s shortlist shrinking, Ramos represents an intriguing solution. His record stands at 34 goals from 88 appearances, though only 34 have been starts, a statistic that underlines his untapped potential.
Ramos scored in PSG’s UEFA Super Cup victory over Tottenham, later telling reporters he was committed to the Champions League holders. Yet under Luis Enrique he has not been guaranteed a starting berth, and a move to Tyneside may be more appealing than life as a rotational option in Paris.
Eddie Howe remains focused on quality. “Eddie Howe will not compromise on quality or character in that search,” sources confirm, as Newcastle plan to add two strikers before the window closes. Yoane Wissa is also expected to arrive from Brentford, which could ease Isak’s pathway to Liverpool, though the club maintain he could yet remain if no deal materialises.

Newcastle fans will be expectant and perhaps a little anxious about this pursuit. Goncalo Ramos is a forward with proven pedigree in European competitions, and the thought of him leading the line at St James’ Park brings excitement. Supporters will see his 34 goals for PSG as a foundation that can grow with regular Premier League minutes.
There is also intrigue about how he might link with the creative outlets already in place. The Magpies are not short on energy or pressing power, and Ramos has the work rate to fit Howe’s system. Yet there will be scepticism too, especially given his limited starts in Paris. Some fans might ask whether Newcastle are signing a starter or a squad player.
Isak’s situation continues to dominate conversations. A move to Liverpool would leave a sizeable void, and many on Tyneside feel that keeping him is as important as any incoming deal. If Howe secures both Ramos and Wissa, and retains Isak, Newcastle suddenly have enviable depth. If not, supporters will worry the club’s ambitions may be undermined by late-window uncertainty.
Either way, the next fortnight will be decisive, and Newcastle fans will be watching every development closely, knowing their club stands at a critical point in its progression.
