Newcastle United had a narrow 1-0 win over lower league Nottingham Forest in a weather effected Adobe Women’s FA Cup Fourth Round.

Charlton Athletic forced the first three saves of the game at Chelsea but Lauren James saw her effort tipped onto the post by Addicks’ keeper Jess Gray, who then thwarted Mayra Ramirez from close range. Lucy Bronze’s cross was headed home by Ramirez, who forced another save from Gray and then won a penalty which Guro Reiten converted. Aggie Beever-Jones came off then bench to score less than three minutes later, Niamh Charles added a tap-in but the victory was marred by Wieke Kaptein being stretchered off.
Nottingham Forest kept Championship side Newcastle United at bay into the last quarter of an hour, when Jasmine McQuade found the top corner from outside the box for what proved to be the winner.

Manchester City’s Jill Roord fired them one up from 20 yards in the 20th minute against Ipswich Town, Laura Coombs doubled the advantage after the break when burying her own rebound off the bar. Vivianne Miedema marked her return from injury by getting the third goal after being picked put by Chloe Kelly. Lucy Watson threatened a reply for Ipswich but Kerstin Casperij made the block.
Wolves broke the deadlock at Cheltenham Town just after the hour mark, a breakaway move seeing Beth Merrick play in Amber Hughes who found the net from outside the box. Within 10 minutes, Merrick also struck from distance to make it 2-0.
London City’s Chantelle Boye-Hlorkah hit a nine-minute hat-trick before the break at fifth-tier Fulham, assists coming from an Emma Mukandi cross, Megan Campbell effort and Sofia Jakobsson delivery to the far post. Kosovare Asllani won and converted a penalty on the hour mark, before setting up Issy Goodwin for the fifth goal.
Sunderland scored twice in the opening 13 minutes at Exeter City, Ellen Jones and Eleanor Dale with the finishes. Katie Kitching set up the third as Dale netted her second, Sophie Gillies won a penalty for the Grecians which Sarah Stacey put away, only for Jones to swiftly double her tally for the visitors to make it 4-1 at half time. Jones completed her hat-trick early in the second half, as did Dale when heading in from a Jessica Brown cross. Dale then won the goal-scoring dual with her fourth making it 7-1.
Rugby Borough led at London Bees through Nicola Potts, Ebony Wiseman soon doubling the advantage and then taking the corner from which Mai Moncaster headed home. Angelina Nixon nodded in before the break, Rhianne Rush scored early in the second half, with Nixon’s second later making it 6-0.
Aston Villa made a flying start against underdogs Bristol Rovers with three goals in the first eight minutes, as Rachel Daly bagged a brace and Gabi Nunes netted the first of her hat-trick. There was also a goal apiece from Paula Tomás, Chasity Grant, Kirsty Hanson and Jill Baijings.
