Newcastle must ditch Howe and Tindall if they’re serious about winning silverware

Let’s dispense with the waffle. We don’t rate Eddie Howe. The same applies to his assistant, Jason Tindall.

We predicted that Newcastle United would sack Howe in 2024. That one didn’t come to fruition, so we went to the well again this year.

If the club’s Saudi Arabian owners have any sense, they will ditch Howe and his ridiculously over-tanned assistant this summer.

Newcastle need to axe their comedy coaching double act

Howe’s ‘reputation’ as a tactically astute coach is vastly overblown. Newcastle’s exit from the FA Cup on Sunday highlighted that point to perfection.

His team had control of their tie against Brighton & Hove Albion, yet lost their grip and were ultimately dumped out of the competition.

Tindall’s role in their demise shouldn’t be underplayed. Resplendent in his fake tan, does anyone know what this clueless chancer actually brings to the party?

Howe and Tindall bear similarities to Laurel and Hardy – slapstick merchants who have no place running a club with lofty ambitions.

A decent coaching team could easily guide Newcastle to where a club of their size should be. Stan and Ollie are not that coaching team.

What to watch

This evening’s football is a tad underwhelming. The semi-finals of the UK Open Darts Championship will help to fill the void.
